Cand s-a intamplat sa vizitati ultima data, site-ul dedicat distributiilor linux, Distrowatch? Ati aruncat o privire la Page Hit Ranking? Daca nu, ar fi cazul sa o faceti. Da… vederea nu va inseala, conform statisticii de pe site distributia Linux Mint este in top cu 3705 accesari pe un trend crescator. Trendul acesta ascendent se datoreaza mai ales schimbarilor semnificative pe care versiunea 12, nume de cod Lisa, le va aduce pentru utilizatori o data cu 20 noiembrie.
Acestea sunt:
– Gnome 2 disponibil sub spectrul fork-ului Mate; utilizatorii obisnuiti cu versiunea 2.32 a Gnome vor putea utiliza Mate fara probleme:
MATE is a fork of Gnome 2.32, it looks and behaves exactly as Gnome 2…MATE is a brand new project and it does conflict with Gnome 3 in many areas. We’re currently working hard in collaboration with the MATE developers to identify and fix these conflicts so that we can have both Gnome 3 and MATE installed by default on the DVD edition of Linux Mint 12.

Gnome 3 is shiny, elegant and modern looking. It’s a sleek desktop but it comes with a few problems:
It changes the way people use their computer
It’s application-centric, not task-centric (you switch between applications, not windows)
It doesn’t do multi-tasking well (you can’t see opened windows, system tray icons, etc..)
For this, we developed “MGSE” (Mint Gnome Shell Extensions), which is a desktop layer on top of Gnome 3 that makes it possible for you to use Gnome 3 in a traditional way.
Daca cele scrise de mine v-au starnit curiozitatea va sugerez sa cititi si restul articolului pentru a intelege cat mai bine schimbarile aduse de Linux Mint 12. Pana cand o versiune de teste va aparea, intreaga comunitate de utilizatori Linux Mint este in fierbere si personal indraznesc sa adaug ca dupa 20 noiembrie numarul de accesari pe Distrowatch pentru “micul francez” va creste.
